RONA Glassworks
Glass has been produced in Lednické Rovne for more than 130 years, and has become part of everyday life in some of the world’s most prestigious cities.

This art of everyday life has taken the world by storm!
Founded in 1892 by entrepreneur Jozef Schreiber, the RONA Glassworks is one of the most significant and successful glassworks in Slovakian history — and is now also one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lead-free crystal drinking glasses.

Products made in the Považie region can be found on the tables of luxury hotels in Dubai and Las Vegas, the Rockefeller Center in New York, and even Buckingham Palace and the White House. Up to 96% of production is exported to over 80 countries worldwide, with more than 60 million pieces of glass manufactured annually in Lednické Rovne alone.
RONA is a prime example of the fusion of tradition, design, and modern technology. Its portfolio primarily comprises machine-made beverage glassware for households, hotels, restaurants, airlines, and cruise lines, with customers including Emirates, KLM, Etihad, and American Airlines. However, at the same time, the glassworks has retained a strong artisanal identity.
Skilled glassmakers
One iconic feature is the patented drawn-stem technology, which was introduced in 1956. Handcrafted wine and tasting glasses made using this technique are among the brand’s most sought-after products, symbolising the delicacy, elegance and mastery of the glassmakers’ craft. These collections appeal to lovers of design, fine dining and timeless interior pieces.
The glassworks’ history is also closely intertwined with art. As early as the late 19th century, it was one of the most technologically advanced enterprises in Europe, being the first on the continent to introduce pantograph glass etching. In the 20^(th) century, it collaborated with prominent Slovak artists such as Martin Benka and Vincent Hložník, elevating the status of glass from Lednické Rovne to that of an artistic medium.
Today, RONA is a modern, socially responsible and environmentally conscious company that relies on sustainable practices, talented people and innovation, while maintaining respect for craftsmanship and tradition.
