The alluvial plain of the Orechovský stream

The alluvial plain of the Orechovský stream is a natural area alongside the Váh River in Trenčín that is currently undergoing revitalisation. The new space blends nature with architecture and offers visitors the chance to spend time outdoors, socialise and discover new ways of experiencing public space.

The revitalisation also includes the ‘Public Escapades’ project by the WOVEN studio, which brings a pair of original pavilions – Unio Tectum and Unio Stibadium – to Alúvia. Their design is inspired by the organic shape of the freshwater mussel Unio crassus. The pavilions serve as striking architectural features within the landscape, whilst also providing space for seating, relaxation, community activities and artistic interventions.

A place for relaxation, community and art

Alúvium forms part of a wider project to revitalise the natural areas along the Váh River, which also includes Trenčiansky Luh. The aim is to create attractive public spaces where people can meet, spend their free time and, at the same time, experience art in the heart of nature.

Throughout the year, the site will host community events, picnics, educational activities, workshops and various artistic programmes. The pavilions will provide a venue for audiovisual projects, dance, theatre and literary performances, as well as other activities for both children and adults.

During the summer of 2026, Alúvium will host a series of community events organised by Fabrika umenia. In September, the Unio Tectum and Unio Stibadium pavilions will also be temporarily complemented by interactive works by British artist Mahale Henry-Richards, entitled Remote Echoes and Echoes Expanded.

The Orechovský potok alluvial plain is thus gradually emerging as a place where nature, architecture, art and the community come together – a space where you can come for a walk, a picnic, an event or simply to spend some time by the Váh.
