Čachtické chotáre Winery
Where tales of the Bloody Countess meet the scent of ripening grapes, you’ll find the Čachtice vineyards. A winery with deep roots and a unique character. On the northernmost foothills of the Little Carpathians, in the vicinity of Čachtice and Častkovce, wines are crafted that reflect the exceptional terroir of this region.
The tradition of viticulture here dates back to Roman times. Evidence of this includes an archaeological find of a Roman wine vessel discovered near Čachtice. In the centuries that followed, local wines earned an excellent reputation, and according to historical records, they were even served at the banquet tables of Empress Maria Theresa. Čachtice Pinot Noir was among the wines exported as far as Vienna.
The uniqueness of the Čachtice vineyards lies primarily in the soil. The vineyards grow on a limestone subsoil of the rendzina type, which is relatively rare in Slovakia. The soil, rich in calcium and magnesium, imparts freshness, elegant minerality, and a more distinctive character to the wines. Experts compare the local conditions to the famous wine-growing regions of Burgundy, France.
Today, the winery cultivates dozens of hectares of its own vineyards and produces high-quality, varietal wines exclusively from grapes grown in the region. The selection includes varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon, Red Traminer, Pálava, and Pinot Blanc, as well as red wines from Pinot Noir, Dunaj, Merlot, and Dornfelder.

Tastings in a Unique Setting
The tastings held on the site of the former Nádašdy family manor house are an unforgettable experience. It was here that Elizabeth Báthory, one of the most famous figures in Slovak history, once lived. The atmosphere is enhanced by historic cellars and legends of mysterious underground passages that still spark visitors’ imaginations today.

The Čachtice region is not just about wine. It is about stories hidden in the vineyards, history etched into the landscape, and discovering flavors born in one of the most fascinating wine-growing regions of the Považie.
Dare to taste wine with a story.
