The Michal Rešetka Public Library in Trenčín
The Michal Rešetka Public Library in Trenčín is a modern cultural, informational and educational institution with a regional reach.
It manages an extensive collection of around 220,000 books and special documents, including audiovisual and electronic resources, over 280 periodical titles and a wealth of regional documents.
As well as lending books and providing information services, the library offers public internet access and organises literary, educational and community events for all age groups. It also creates a space for meetings, learning and discussion. The library also plays a significant role in regional bibliography, providing methodological guidance for libraries and supporting lifelong learning.
Michal Rešetka was a nationalist.
The library is named after a prominent figure in Slovak history: Michal Rešetka. A nationalist, priest and scholar, he was one of the most notable collectors and publishers of Slovak literature during the National Revival. His extensive library and scholarly work made a significant contribution to the development of Slovak book culture and literary history.
Today, the Michal Rešetka Public Library continues his legacy by making knowledge accessible, promoting education, and participating actively in the cultural life of the region.
