Housing architecture of the 1950s represents a brief yet remarkable period in architectural history that continues to have a significant impact on the appearance of our towns and cities today. The exhibition explores the phenomena of this era and its specific architectural, urban-planning and social contexts. It presents significant examples of residential development in the Trenčín Region, from Nová Dubnica through Prievidza and Handlová to Trenčín and other towns in the region.
At the same time, it draws attention to the qualities of this architecture, which are often lost through insensitive renovations and alterations to the original urban-planning concepts. The aim is to look at the architecture of the 1950s without prejudice and to perceive it not only as a reminder of a complex period in our history, but also as a unique cultural and artistic heritage.
